Busy girl.....

Working girl... office work, scheduling appointments, etc. Next off to my sisters to help her pack for a move! I'm very excited, I sold my 1898 White House Cook Book through my ETSY Store. I love that book it was so unique and of course written for the modern women of 1898! It wasn't just a cook book. It had all sorts of ways to help you run your household. I will miss the book. Be sure to check out my ETSY Store for great vintage finds and handmade items. The shelves are a bit bare right now, but more very unique items coming soon! It's the same name as my blog. AlteredMiscellany!!!

May is almost over... I have taken more time this month to create than I have in 3 years. It has been so much fun. In doing so, I have discovered I have some favorite companies that I would like to give kudos to!
In random order they are:
PRIMA ....why? Flowers, but that's not all you get! Tiles, Bling, fabulous, gorgeous, inspirational papers, Masks, Trinkets, Resins, Tiles....... Prima makes it easy to scrapbook like a professional.
Tim Holtz .... I love getting inky with Tim & Mario! Why? Inks, Alcohol inks, Stamps, Vintage buttons, Die Cuts, Tools (my fav & most utilized is the distress key chain tool) Grunge Board, Fab Papers!!!
Kaiser Craft ... Why? A wonderful company from down-under! VERY nice folks! I love their papers, Wood Flourishes, Bling, and their Beyond the Page wood products are awesome. I made a shadowbox using their shadowbox and the Hunt & Gather line.
Graphic 45 ... why? Well! If you don't know just have a look at their paper lines. OMGosh! Their design team is an international team of incredibly talented and inspirational artists. So... their papers, embellishments and stamps!!!
More.... Bo Bunny, Fancy Pants, Pink Paislee, Websters Pages, Tattered Angels with my fav Glimmer Mist!
I feel like someone thanking the Academy for my award! Maybe that's what I will do. Start an award show for the crafting world.... hmmmmmmmm!

Long week, lots of hours in home office working. Then Saturday night I watched the Donna Salazar Web Show! I love her, she is so talented. I then started some altering projects. First I am finally re-doing a tacky old jewelry box I got for a buck at a yard sale! I wish I would have taken before pictures. It is the standard maple color icky old fashioned jewelry box. I saw possibilities though. It's about 12" tall and the two sides are rounded and open to store necklaces on hooks. It has 3 drawers, one having cushions for rings. I spray painted it in my favorite Krylon Textured Metallic Bronze! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this paint! I am using beautiful Prima Marketing Paper, Flowers and Bling! My daughter has been in several times asking is it for me? Can I have it? Of course it is, and yes you can! I have two more projects to work on and am using more Prima!!!

3-D Christmas Card - I actually made the chimney from Bazzill Cardstock I scored and folded, then I made the bricks again using textured Bazzill and the deckle edge trimmer then antiquing with ink. I laid the bricks with "mortar" I made using Tim Holtz white Crackle Paint and added a touch of black paint. The "snow" was also made with the crackle paint. The rest of the card was made using Kaisercrafts December 25th Collection, Pom trim, a tassel and one paper poinsettia from EK.

This layout was made with Kaisercrafts beautiful "These Days" Collection. I first printed the photo of my daughter on Bazzill cardstock...I used a soft tan/fleshtone color which really enhanced the softness. White was too harsh. I layered and layered and antiqued. I also used Kaisercraft bling and wood clock. Add some May Arts ribbon and Prima Flowers and voila!

This shadowbox I made for my new great-nephew Jackson. I used Kaisercrafts wood shadowbox and spray painted with Krylon Textured Bronze paint! I love that paint, we also used it on an ugly old small desk I was about to get rid of and it is now stunning! Anyway, the shadowbox was decorated almost entirely with Hunt and Gather from Kaisercraft. (I am a big Kaisercraft fan) I also used Karen Foster Hunting charms.

I have had so much fun this week creating with Kaisercraft. One of my favorite companies with fun and versatile products. They are located in Australia... a place where my mom had hoped to visit some day but sadly didn't get too. I too have the same hopes. Kaisercraft has crafting papers, embellies, wood, stickers, die cuts, home decor, on and on. I made a beautiful layout with a photo of my daughter not long before she gave birth to her first daughter. The soft colors perfectly enhanced the soft photo. I added ink to edges to age, rhinestones, ribbons, a wood clock and it is stunning if I do say so myself.

Next I made a Christmas card. I took some brick colored Bazzill textured cardstock, used my deckle edge paper trimmer cutter and made the "bricks," I then antiqued them. To make the mortar I used Tim Holtz White Crackle paint and added some black acrylic paint to get the right color. I scored and folded a piece of cardstock to make a 3-D chimney. Next...a few bricks and mortar and voila - a chimney. Using the Kaisercraft December 25th collection I cut out one of the Santas and placed him "going down the chimney."

The last project I made was a shadow box for my new great-nephew. First I spray painted with Krylon textured bronze metallic paint. Gorgeous results, my hubby and I have used that to redo an entrance table and the end results were stunning. I used the Hunt and Gather collection to decorate. Very masculine and will perfectly match the "camo" deco of his nursery that my nephew insisted his first son have! So... it was a fun week of creating for me :)
Photos to follow.....
There is never enough time to create. It seems my mind is always creating but my body has to be at work! I follow lots of companies on Facebook that inspire me. Tim Holtz (and his sidekick Mario) Graphic 45, Kaisercraft, Prima, Pink Paislee, May Arts...on and on! I love to go to Scrapbook.com and look in their galleries to see all the wonderful creations. I especially love looking at and getting ideas for crafting rooms! Anyway, I have so many projects I am working on now and so little time. Back to work. I WILL create tonight!
